Good Ohio Fishing Spots

Ohio is home to some fantastic fishing spots.  With all the water in this state, you are likely to find that you can go almost anywhere and catch great fish.  If you’re a resident of Ohio, it is likely that you know a great fishing spot or two, but if you’re new to fishing then you are going to need to know where some great spots are.

Rivers
If you are near  a river, you should find that it’s a great place to do some fishing.  You should be aware of what you catch and eat, because some of the fish you will catch are not safe for eating, but if you are in it for the sport, or know what you’re looking for, you can catch a nice meal.

Also, consider doing some fly fishing on the Ohio River or any of the many others in the area.  The Ohio Valley is rich with flowing waterways & since you’re able to fish year round in a lot of areas, it may be amusing to see what the colder waters of spring have to offer.

Lakes
Other popular fishing locations are lakes and Ohio has plenty of them to offer.  The state of Ohio literally has lakes all over.  This is good news for you if you’re looking for a quiet place to fish or something nearby.  Keep the rules and regulations in mind when you’re fishing though & make certain that you pay attention to the rules of what you should and shouldn’t eat when it comes to fish you catch in Ohio.

From small lakes to larger ones, you can enjoy the sport of fishing on most of them that are public land with a basic fishing license, so you will not need anything specific.  On a beautiful spring day, you can head out and find a quiet corner & simply let out your line.  Enjoy the nature, the clear water and the fishing.

Lake Erie
Now, if you love fishing, then you have to go out on Lake Erie one time.  Most people have to go on a charter fishing trip to do this, but this is where you catch the best fish that make your meal feel more like a feast.  You will find that charters can be high-priced, though, so they are best done in large groups.

For a lot of people, however, a charter fishing trip on this great lake is better than any type of fishing.  The cold, deep, fresh waters provide some of the tastiest fish out there, but you must check the guidelines to figure out what you can & should eat from the lake & what you should leave alone.  The company you charter through should be well versed in this area, too, so if you aren’t sure, ask.

No matter if you’re chartering a fishing boat and headed out into the big waters, or you want to fish one of the calm & quiet lakes or tributaries in your area, or if you’re a fan of the clear running waters of the rivers and streams in your area, fishing is something that you can enjoy with your whole family.  Whether you eat them or throw them back, Ohio fishing is a pastime to be enjoyed by everyone.
